ONEderBag’s™ Nesting Technology Advantages Explained

-96% Chore Reduction
Chore Killer

Nested Trash Bags

Would you be satisfied with pocket tissues packs, that contained only a single tissue instead of 10? And every time after you used that single tissue, you had to replace it with a new one? Literally no one would buy that!

Yet this is exactly how trash bags work. You use a trash bag until it is full, very full. And realistically, you put in »just a little bit more«, because you do not only dread bringing out the trash, you truly hate the chore of having to put in a new one. Why can’t this be easier?

Say hello to your new best friend ONEderBag™.

For the first time in the industry, ONEderBag‘s™ patent pending nesting technology allows for the successful nesting of film bags.

Every time you fill up a ONEderBag™ trash bag, you simply remove it and a new one is where you want it the most - readily placed inside of your trash can and waiting to be used.

Since ONEderBag™ comes in packs of 10 up to 25 nested trash bags, it
eliminates 90% up to 96% of trash bag replacements.

≥15 Minutes Saved
Time Saver

If you are fast, inserting a new trash bag into a trash can takes you about 35-40 seconds on average.
A ONEderBag™ with 25 nested trash bags thereby saves you at least 24 x 37.5 seconds = 900 seconds which equate to 15 minutes of your precious lifetime.

$8.23 Saved per Unit
Money Saver

You will love and appreciate the 15 minutes, that you save per ONEderBag™.
Yet, if you truly value your lifetime, you should also put a price tag on it.
The US bureau of statistics currently cites an average hourly wage of $32.93 across all wage earners for January 2023. Let’s use this number as an average price point for valuing your lifetime.
Saving 15 minutes of your lifetime thereby results in $8.23 saved per ONEderBag™.

Sustainable

Fewer Resources - More Sustainble

We are able to reduce ONEderBag‘s™ trash bag’s resource usage by up to 75% compared to conventional trash bags for 3 reasons:

Seamless Side Wall Drawstring Trash Bags

A conventional drawstring trash bag is essentially made out of a rectangular piece of film material, that gets folded and its front and back panel get sealed together on their side edges, leaving an open side, on which the drawstring is added. The side wall seals are usually created by applying heat welding. Unfortunately, heat welding weakens any plastic film material significantly. Therefore, the weakest parts of any film bag are their heat welded seams. In order to compensate for this built-in weakness, manufacturers have to use much thicker wall thickness than necessary compared to tubular film bags.

By how much do they have to increase the wall thickness to compensate for this?

On average this accounts for an increase in wall thickness of 75 - 100%.

Reduction in Wall Thickness of Up To 50%

ONEderBag™ introduces patent pending drawstring trash bags made out of tubular film material, that due to their tubular nature are without any side walls seams.
With this dramatic change we managed to cut the resource use for ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags up to 50%.
Simply by being able to reduce ONEderBag‘s™ trash bag’s wall thickness by up to 50% without compromising on load bearing.
But how is this thick enough? Read on and you will find out in the next paragraph…

Optimizing for the Standard Use Case

Are you familiar with the pareto or 80/20 principle and the bell curve?

Pareto Principle

Italian polymath Vilfredo Pareto’s principle describes that 20% of put in effort or resources is responsible for 80% of the observed outcome.
Pareto Principle This also applies to trash bags.
20% of the wall thickness of a trash bag is perfectly enough for about 80% of all use cases.

Bell Curve

The bell curve supports this assumption. Bell Curve
It describes a normal distribution with so called »standard deviations« from the mean as measured in »σ«. 1σ means one standard deviation from the mean. Within any somewhat normal use case or system, »things« typically happen within 1σ from the mean. The cumulative percentages of the bell curve’s normal distribution show us, that this indeed accounts for up to 84.1% of all use cases.

But what about the other roughly 16 to 20% you ask? Isn’t every trash bag brand bragging about how robust their trash bags are? Aren’t they constantly telling me facts about ».72 MIL«, ».9 MIL« and all kinds of »guards« and how »STRONG« their trash bags are?

These approaches always aim to optimize for the maximum load case or a use case far right of our typical 1σ range. Why do they focus on the 2-3σ use case you might ask?
Because they have to. For multiple reasons. A conventional trash bag has only one wall. And also, sadly enough, the »strength« of a trash bag is pretty much its only point of differentiation from the competition aside from »odor control« and other »strength« related aspects.

But now ONEderBag™ has entered the scene and changes this. Dramatically.
Read on and learn more…

But What About the 20% of Use Cases When I Need More…?

Unlike conventional trash bags, ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags are nested. This means that whenever you have a normal use case, you just need ONE of ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags, who’s wall thickness is optimized for the standard use case.
But whenever you encounter a heavy duty situation, you can simply utilize two or more of ONEderBag‘s™ nested trash bags together at once. And you automatically double, triple, quadruple… the wall thickness, load bearing and tear resistance up to the level that you truly require. Not more, not less. But on average - in ≥80% of all use cases - you save precious resources and reduce the use of plastic, which in turn is great for the environment.

ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags don’t have to be optimized for the worst case scenario. And at the same time, ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags will be stronger than ANY comparable conventional trash bag by using the appropriate number of nested trash bags you need.
Within the nested trash bags of a ONEderBag™ we only optimize the outermost and therefore last trash bag for a worst case scenario. And it may sound weird, but this »optimized« trash bag of a ONEderBag™ is its weakest.

Circular Cross Section & Optimal Size

How does a circular cross section have anything to with this and what do we mean by optimal size?
Any conventional drawstring trash bag has to solve two things.

  1. It has to actually fit into a suitably sized trash can
  2. It needs to be big enough, so that you can wrap the trash bag’s opening around the trash can’s rim and secure it there

A conventional drawstring trash bag is utterly 2-dimensional. It is essentially a flat rectangle. And in order to expand it enough to fulfill both above listed conditions, its dimensions have to be quite a bit larger than the those of the trash cans they are used in.

In contrast ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags are made of tubular film and therefore comprise a circular transverse cross section. A cylindrical object does not only fit much easier into a 3 dimensional trash can of any shape compared to a flat rectangle, thanks to ONEderBag‘s™ patent pending collar technology, we can optimize each trash bag’s size to actually fit perfectly INTO the trash can. We do not have to optimize our trash bags for getting wrapped around the trash cans’ rims - only ONEderBag’s™ collars are. And ONEderBag’s™ collars are optimized for clinging onto all kinds of trash cans.

This allows us to save another 10-25% of resources compared to conventional drawstring trash bags.

Combined with the thinner wall thickness of ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags, which saves up to 50% of resources, ONEderBag‘s™ trash bags can achieve the same level of utility and robustness compared to any conventional drawstring trash bag with up to 75% less resources.

ONEderBag™ Brings a Past’s Invention Finally to Life

The history of film bags for household, business and industrial use hasn’t changed much over the course of time. First there were no trash bags at all. It was stinky and very nasty. Trash in general was a much nastier and stinkier business than it is today.

Then in 1950 the invention of the polyethylene trash bag changed the trash disposal game forever. In 1950, Canadian inventors Harry Wasylyk and Larry Hansen invented the garbage bag, which saw the consumer market another 15 years later in the mid 1960s under the Glad® brand.

It took roughly another 20 years until in 1984 the drawstring trash bag was introduced.

What has changed since? Deodorized and reinforced trash bags came to market. But beyond that? Nothing much.

But what no one got to know until now - in 1967 and probably earlier, patents got filed for nested trash bags. But until today, none of these ideas were feasible.

Today, 56 years after its initial invention in 1967, ONEderBag‘s™ innovative technology, process and configurations finally brings everything necessary together for successfully nesting trash bags. It’s ONE of a kind, ONEderFully useful. It’s a true ONEderBag™.
